Forget MRR, ARR, GRR—None of It Matters

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen of the Morning Maker Show.

I woke up with an opinion this morning, and I'm going to share it. As the title suggests, I don't care anymore about MRR, NRR, GRR, WBDRRR, or any other metrics ending in "RR." To be frank, you shouldn't care either. The thing is, it seems like the only right way to grow is to grow yourself—which is strange because I'm so tired of growing (jk, I will never be tired of growing), yet you need to position yourself in the community you want to be part of or sell to.

Let me explain this: at Chatbase, I am currently marketing the future of customer support. In order to market the product, I have to market myself. Wait a minute—is this the future of marketing? It could be. Let's see.

So my plan is simple:

  • Grow as a leader on LinkedIn,
  • Write and publish articles that actually matter,
  • Understand the people and the environment I am working in,
  • Build real relationships instead of chasing metrics.

What I'm trying to say is that for Chatbase to become a future leader in customer support, I need to start today by becoming an advocate for this product in the community we’re trying to pioneer.

I need to build my knowledge (not just product), build my presence, and take the market. Me—not Chatbase. And then, maybe, I can introduce Chatbase. So yeah, all things ending in "RR" are so over.

You are freaking MRR, ARR, BRR, WEER. So today, invest in yourself: hire a ghostwriter, read and learn about the community and the people you are trying to sell to, become a leader in your industry, and invest in yourself.
